Baltimore Protests

Even those who don’t watch the news know of the ongoing protests taking place in Baltimore, Maryland in response to the death of Freddie Gray.

What killed Freddie Gray is still a mystery, but what we do know is that he suffered a severe spinal cord injury. His voice box was crushed and the vertebrae in his neck was fractured in three places before he slipped into a coma and died a week later on April 19th. Exactly how these injuries happened is still under official investigation.

On Monday April 27th, just hours after the funeral for Freddie Gray, over 10,000 people gathered to protest in Baltimore. A small minority of the crowd clashed violently with the police. Throughout the first day of protests, police arrested over 200 people, and about 100 detainees were released without charges early Wednesday evening.

Freddie Gray’s death is a major wrongful death case due to police misconduct in denying him access to medical attention sooner. Alvin H. Broome & Associates limits its practice to major injury and wrongful death cases including: medical malpractice, construction and building accidents, accidents caused by defects of a roadway, toxic torts, police misconduct, hazardous products, serious motor vehicle accidents and serious falls.
