Even those who don’t watch the news know of the ongoing protests taking place in Baltimore, Maryland in response to the death of Freddie Gray.
What killed Freddie Gray is still a mystery, but what we do know is that he suffered a severe spinal cord injury. His voice box was crushed and the vertebrae in his neck was fractured in three places before he slipped into a coma and died a week later on April 19th. On Monday April 27th, just hours after the funeral for Freddie Gray, over 10,000 people gathered to protest in Baltimore. A small minority of the crowd clashed violently with the police. Throughout the first day of protests, police arrested over 200 people, and about 100 detainees were released without charges early Wednesday evening.
