Largest Personal Injury Verdict in Vermont

Dzemilla Heco and her two sons were awarded over $43 million in a suit against Johnson Controls Inc, which manufactures and sells seats for cars.

According to an article in the VT Digger, “it was a Johnson seat that failed in Heco’s 1999 Dodge Neon in August 2007 when her car was struck from behind by another vehicle. Heco was wearing her seatbelt at the time, but she became “unrestrained” when her seat collapsed backwards.”

Though Johnson Controls is standing by its product and claiming that the seat was not at fault, they have settled for more than $43.1 million, what many believe is the largest personal injury verdict in the state’s history.
